I strive for success in everything I do. I’ve worked diligently to take a given situation into my own hands in order to produce a desired result. I don’t wait for good things to happen – I make them happen.
Education and Internships
Graduating from Minnesota State University, Mankato, with a bachelor’s in mass media, I have exceptional training in various types of writing, including straight news, profiles, investigative pieces, creative and literary journalism. I recently completed an internship with Media Relations, Inc., which focused on social media writing and administrative assistance. Prior to arriving at MSU, Mankato, I also completed a writing internship with MVP, a new high school sports magazine based out of Rochester, writing four athlete profiles during the course of three months.
Raised in Pine Island, Minn., I graduated from high school in 2006. In 2008, I began coursework at Rochester Community and Technical College and started writing for the school newspaper the following year. At RCTC’s The Echo I worked as a staff writer for one semester and was promoted to managing editor the next semester; I then took over as editor in chief the semester after managing. The Echo won three awards at the 2011 Minnesota Better Newspaper contest, including first place in the General Excellence and General Reporting categories.
On a weekly basis, I contribute to my good friend’s marketing blog, KickForceMarketing.com, by proofreading and polishing posts and offering suggestions for layout and design.
As an employee of the American Legion Post in Faribault, Minn., I took it upon myself and my expertise to develop a social media platform in order to promote the Legion’s business. I started a Facebook page and linked it to the Legion’s website to increase traffic. I will also be contributing to and editing the Legion’s website content, making it more user-friendly and giving it more SEO capability.
